Save the Golden Langur- A treasure of Assam and Bhutan
The Golden Langur which is also known as " Gees Golden Langur" is not extinct, but it is highly endangered. Currently it has an estimated population of about 5000 to 6500 mature individuals. The Golden Langur is one of the world's most beautiful and rare primates, known for its striking golden coat and gentle nature. This is primarily found in the forests of western Assam and neighboring Bhutan. Presently, this endangered species faces serious threats from habitat loss, deforestation, and human encroachment.
These graceful monkeys (golden monkey) play an important role in maintaining healthy forest ecosystems by dispersing seeds and supporting biodiversity. Sadly, their population continues to decline as forests become fragmented and their natural habitats shrink.
